Jimmie Johnson has won the last two times the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has come to Dover International Speedway, and has won here five times overall. He was the fastest car in Friday’s initial practice session, as well as the second session on Saturday morning.

So it’s probably safe to assume that Johnson was just trying something when he ran just 16th-fastest in Happy Hour on Saturday. His morning speed of 154.999 mph slipped to 152.918 mph in the afternoon session.
Meanwhile, Kyle Busch was strong in both practice sessions, continuing a trend of strong qualifying and practice performances at Dover – ones, however, that have not always translated to race success. He’ll try to reverse that after running the quickest lap in final practice at 154.209 mph. He was third in the morning session with a lap of 154.599 mph, and will start fourth.
Pole-sitter Martin Truex, Jr. ran 11th in final practice with a fast lap of 153.003 mph, which came on his first lap of the session. David Ragan had a strong day, running second quickest in the morning practice and ninth in final practice. Carl Edwards ran third and 10th in the sessions, respectively.
