The local story of a lost dog and his owners has a happy ending.
Chris and Kathie Gagne were pleased to get a phone call this morning at 8:20 a.m. with the good news. Their lost Boston terrier, Brady, had been found. Two local fishermen spotted the dog early this morning and gave chase, finally catching up to him on White Oak Road in Dover.
In recent days, local news outlets shared the story with the public, and the fishermen saw the story detailing the missing dog. The Gagne’s distributed flyers in and around their Lot 13 campsite at Dover International Speedway, and had been following up on leads since his disappearance.
The Connecticut couple had vowed to not leave Dover until Brady was found, and were happy to be packing up their RV early this afternoon.
“We can’t thank everyone enough,” said Chris Gagne, a Dover ticket holder for 8 years. “The whole community was fabulous. We received so many calls with concern and support. A local farmer even offered to go grocery shopping for us. The Dover International Speedway staff was as helpful as possible.”
Brady (named after New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady) left the Gagne’s campsite on Saturday morning, May 15, 2010 after being frightened by a German shepherd that entered their RV space. He disappeared out of sight, and the search to find him had been underway until early this morning.
The Gagne’s, along with seven other RV owners in their group, were in Dover for the May 14-16, 2010 race weekend. Brady has attended several other Dover race weekends, and had never run off before.
Brady was taken to see a local veterinarian, and checked out okay.
“He had a bunch of ticks removed, and he probably lost one or two pounds,” said Gagne. “But we can’t say thank you enough to everyone that helped us.”
